Waterwitch (1880); Recreation vessel; Yacht
Scale: 1:12. A contemporary half block model of the schooner-rigged racing yacht Waterwitch(1880). The hull is constructed from several planks of wood in bread and butter fashion and is painted a chocolate brown below the waterline with black topsides above the level of the deck. It has a slight curve to the sheer with a clipper bow which is decorated with a scroll and trailboards. There is a rubbing piece running the entire of the hull at roughly deck level which runs into the long overhanging and tapering counter stern. The deep v-shaped hull is fitted with a rudder at the stern whilst on deck are two stump masts(now missing) and a stump bowsprit in a natural varnished wood. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard painted a creamy white with a raised moulded edge. It is inscribed "Built by Camper & Nicholson 1880". (Barely legible on backboard is) "Schooner "Waterwitch 169(?) tons". Number "C&NL N2142".
