Rose(1706); Warship; Sixth rate; Sloop; 20 guns
Scale: 1:48. A contemporary full hull model of the 'Rose' (1706), a 20-gun sixth-rate sloop, built in the Navy Board style. Model is decked and partially equipped with a capstan and working tiller arm and rudder. At this scale the model represents a vessel measuring 89 feet along the gun deck by 23 feet in the beam and a tonnage of 200 burden. The ornamental 'dolphin’ supports are inscribed '1706’ and ‘B.R.’. The latter stands for Benjamin Rosewell who was the master shipwright at Chatham dockyard.
