Warship (1715); Forth rate; 50 guns

Scale: 1:48. A contemporary full hull model of a 50-gun small two-decker (circa 1715), built plank on frame in the Navy Board style. The model is decked and partially planked to the mainwales, and equipped with a 'jeer’ capstan, used for raising and lowering the yards. The main capstan is located further aft on the deck below and would have been used when hauling the anchor and its cable. The model is mounted on its original base, supported the entire length of its keel, by a veneer and inlay 'keel block’. At this scale it represents a ship measuring 132 feet along the gun deck by 34 feet in the beam and a tonnage of 700 tons.
