Full hull model

Scale 1:48. A Georgian full hull model of a warship of 18 guns, circa 1715. The hull has been carved from a single block of wood and gouged out internally and the upper works added. It has been painted a brown colour below the waterline, white above, with black main wales and the upper bulwarks are varnish natural wood and painted decoration. There are six gun port lids fitted to the hull on the gun deck and below the quarter deck at the stern. It is complete with fixtures such as forecastle gallery stove pipe, belfry, deck gratings, elm tree bilge pumps, and double capstan. The carved figurehead is painted gold and varnished and resembles Mercury wearing a winged helmet and wings on the ankles. Just behind the figurehead on the beak head are situated two small roundhouses. Along the gun deck, it is also fitted with oar ports between the gun ports.
