Canterbury (1744); Warship; Third rate; 60 guns
Scale: 1:48. A contemporary block design model of the ‘Canterbury’ (1744), a 60-gun, two-decker ship of the line. The number ‘41’ [former catalogue number] is on a plaque on the starboard broadside. ‘Canterbury’ was built at Plymouth and measured 147 feet along the gun deck by 42 feet in the beam. It served in the Caribbean in the late 1740s and early 1750s. In 1758 it was converted into a hospital ship at Plymouth. It was broken up in 1770.
