Constituicao (1821); Warship
Scale: 1:24. A model of the Portuguese warship Constituicao (1821) made entirely in wood and stained and varnished a mid brown finish. The hull is shown largely in frame which has been planked along the wales and just below them. The upper part of the hull is planked. The main gun deck is shown with the gun ports in position but with no lids. The stem post terminates in a scroll shaped figurehead and the trailboards are decoratively carved. The catheads are shown in position and their supports are also decoratively carved. The main deck is unplanked and there is a large rectangular waist showing the interior of the vessel. There are three stump masts. There are gun ports at the aft end of the main deck and an indication of gun ports at the forward end. The model is displayed on two rectangular keel blocks with stabiliser supports and is mounted on a rectangular baseboard with bevelled edges.
