HMS 'Lightning' (1829); Warship; 6th rate; 18 guns

Scale: 1:48. A model of HMS 'Lightning' (1829), made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted brown below the waterline and black above with a broad cream stripe running horizontally along the gun deck. There is a broad white horizontal stripe along the gundeck. The model is complete with a square stern gallery, a rudder and, at the bow, a set of drift rails, cathead and a bust figurehead. The single deck, together with the inboard bulwark is painted off white and devoid of detail.

The model is mounted on a wooden backboard painted off white with a mahogany stained edging.
