'Le Valmy' (1840); Warship; 90 guns
Scale: Unknown. A model of the port side of 'Le Valmy' (1840), a French 90 gun warship made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull below the waterline is painted brown with a narrow cream stripe above and black above the waterline. There are two broad white stripes running horizontally along two gundecks and the single deck, which is devoid of detail, is painted a uniform cream. The port quarter and stern galleries are shown. Fittings include a cathead, open gunport lids on the lower gundeck, guns projecting from the portholes on the main gundeck, and channels with deadeyes fitted.
The model is displayed on an off-white backboard with a stained wood bevelled edge. The backboard is inscribed: ''Le Valmy' French ship 1840'.
