Warship; Ironclad
Scale: Unknown. A model of the starboard side of an ironclad (1853) made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull below the waterline is painted copper and black above the waterline and the single deck, which is devoid of detail, is painted a uniform cream. There is a low section of foredeck. The rudder and propellor cavity are shown.
The model is displayed on a cream backboard with a stained bevelled edge. A plaque is inscribed: 'design for an iron cased ship by Messrs, Napir & Sons 1853 Class 1 Div 8 No 370'.
