HMS Vanguard (1870); Warship; Battleship; Central battery

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the battleship HMS Vanguard (1870), made entirely in wood and painted pale pink-brown below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. Hull details include a ram bow, an extension amidships to accommodate the central battery, rows of square portholes, rectangular gunports, rudder and port side propeller. Other fittings include stump bowsprit, foremast, mainmast and mizzen mast, and a single funnel, painted black. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame with bevelled edge.
