Mavourneen (1871); Recreation vessel; Yacht; Schooner
Scale: 1:96. A waterline model of the schooner yacht Mavourneen (1871), made entirely in silver, highly detailed, and depicted moored to a floating buoy. The depicted vessel is two-masted and all the principal standing and running rigging for the masts and bowsprit are shown. Fittings and equipment includes capstan; topmasts and booms on both masts; boat swung out on port side davits and rigged stern-forward; two boats on starboard davits, one of which resembles a jolly boat; and a flag flying from an ensign staff at the stern. The model is mounted on a solid French-polished mahogany lozenge-shaped plinth. On silver plaque attached to plinth side ‘Francis Meli Malta’.
