HMS Woodlark (1871); Warship; Sloop

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of HMS Woodlark (1871), a twin screw wooden sloop. The model is carved from a solid block of wood and is finished in a dark brown / black colour. The hull has an upright stem and protruding stem head whilst the stern has a rounded cruiser stern and a single propeller shaft, projecting under the stern quarter. The hull is fitted with a flush deck along its entire length and is mounted on a wooden backboard of creamy-white with a stained mahogany edge. Number '79' on model. Plaque inscribed 'Woodlark wood sloop launched 9/3/71 the last wooden vessel built [in] Chatham yard'. The model has a degrading layer of varnish and dirt overall.
