HMS Thunderer (1872); Warship; Turret ship

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the turret ship HMS Thunderer (1872), made entirely in wood and painted brick red below the waterline and black above. Hull details include a ram bow and rudder, though the propulsion is not shown. Other fittings include forecastle; superstructure placed amidships; two large-diameter gun turrets, each with two guns; elevated deck; unidentified fittings painted ochre; and two funnels, painted black. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame with bevelled edge. On label applied to top left-hand corner of backboard ‘Thunderer Tons 4406 HP 800 Guns 4 Building No Div Class’.
