Dumbartonshire ( 1874); Cargo vessel; Ship
Scale:1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the sailing cargo ship Dumbartonshire (1874), made entirely in wood, partly painted in realistic colours, the remainder polished a light brown finish. The hull is polished wood below the waterline, black above with a broad unpainted stripe running the entire length of the vessel on which is painted black rectangles resembling gunports. The hull has a clipper bow. Fittings include provision for a figurehead (currently missing), rudder and forecastle. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard, possibly mahogany, stained and polished a dark brown finish, and with a bevelled edge. Hand-rendered to bottom of backboard ‘Dumbartonshire’.
