HMS Inflexible (1876); Warship; Turret ship
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the turret ship HMS Inflexible, made entirely in wood and painted pink-brown below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline with a white gunwale. There are losses and damage to the pink-brown areas of paintwork. Hull details include a reinforced ram bow and port propeller shaft casing. Other fittings include a gundeck extending almost the entire length of the ship; single wide-diameter gun turret, painted black; raised deck running the entire length of the ship but with a well amidships; stump foremast (missing) and mainmast; and what appears to be two stump funnels painted ochre. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame, the left-hand edge of which is missing. On plaque attached to top left-hand corner of backboard ‘Inflexible’.
