HMS Conqueror (1881); Warship; Battleship
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the battleship HMS Conqueror (1881), made entirely in wood and painted pink-brown below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. The paint finish, particularly in the lower area is damaged with some losses. Hull details include a reinforced ram bow; rudder; raised stern bulwark; and port propeller shaft casing and mounting. Other fittings include stump foremast and mainmast; two distinct superstructures, one placed forward, the other amidships, both painted off-white; raised deck amidships, large diameter turret placed between the two superstructures; single funnel painted off-white with an ochre-coloured top; and a wooden deck. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame. On plaque attached to top left-hand corner of backboard ‘Conqueror’.
