Silver Lining (1881); Cargo vessel; Brigantine
Scale: Unknown. A half block model of the starboard side of the cargo brigantine Silver Lining (1881), made entirely in wood, which has no paint or surface finish. The vessel is depicted in frame with its stations indicated by wood profiles resembling bulkheads. To the outer edges of these are attached five narrow timbers running the entire length of the hull, the uppermost of which forms the vessel’s gunwale. Other features include completed stem post terminating in a simple fiddle head; short section of completed hull at the bow; keel; deadwood; and timbers forming the transom stern. The backboard is integral to the model forming the stem post, keel and deadwood.
