HMS Collingwood (1882); Warship; Barbette ship

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the battleship HMS Collingwood (1882), made entirely in wood and painted pink-brown below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. Hull details include a reinforced ram bow; single row of portholes fore and aft; bulwarks amidships with rectangular gunports; rudder (currently missing); and port propeller shaft casing and mounting. Other features and fittings include fore deck with a gun mounted on a ten-sided conical-shaped turret; superstructure amidships accommodating bridge, two funnels painted off-white with ochre tops, and stump mainmast; and aft deck with identical gun and turret to that on the foredeck. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame. On plaque attached to top right-hand side of backboard ‘Collingwood’.
