Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the three-masted cargo ships Benicia (1883), Markfield (1883) and Sherwood (1883), made entirely in wood, painted and polished. The hull is polished wood below the waterline and black above. The hull has a clipper bow. Fittings include figurehead, a stump bowsprit, foremast (missing), mainmast (missing), and mizzen mast (missing); poop deck; rudder; and long deckhouse positioned between the foremast and mainmast. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard with bevelled edges. Hand-rendered in the bottom centre of the backboard ‘Ships "Sherwood" "Benicia" and "Marfield" of Liverpool. Hand-rendered on bottom left- and right-hand sides of backboard ‘Built by the Whitehaven Shipbuilding Co Whitehaven ‘; and ‘Dimensions Length Perps 251'-6" Breath Mould 38-9" Depth Hold 24'-3" ‘.
