Loch Broom (1885); Cargo vessel; Ship
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the four-masted cargo ship Loch Broom (1885), made entirely in wood, painted and polished. The hull is polished wood below the waterline and black above with a broad white stripe running the entire length of the hull onto which is painted black rectangles that resemble gunports. Hull details include a clipper bow, single strake in polished wood and rudder. Fittings include stump bowsprit, painted white, forecastle, and poop deck, the side of which is painted white. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard with bevelled edges and rounded corners. On plaque attached to bottom right-hand corner of backboard ‘Loch Broom and Loch Carron 2075 tons built by Barclay Curle and Co 1885’.
