Warren Hastings (1886); Passenger vessel

Scale: Unknown. A model of the port side of the Warren Hastings (1886) made entirely in wood with gold-plated metal fittings and realistically painted. The hull is painted brick red below the waterline and black above. On port bow and stern "Warren Hastings". The decks, superstructure and most of the fittings are varnished wood. The foredeck fittings include a crane positioned at the bow, anchor winch gear, a capstan and companion hatch cover. The superstructure is positioned amidships and the promenade is open for much of its length. The boat deck above includes two ventilators, a deckhouse, a skylight, two truncated funnels painted red and mounted on black seatings, and a single boat stowed on crutches but with davits alongside it. Truncated masts are positioned immediately fore and aft of the superstructure. The aft deck includes a wheel with "Warren Hastings" on the casing. The model is displayed in its original mahogany-framed display case, glazed on three sides and top. On plaque attached to backboard "Twin screw steamer "Warren Hastings" 202.1 x 30.15 x 15.65 equals 617.53 tons GR. 230 H.P. Built by Robt Duncan & Co Port Glasgow". On back of case "1973-188".
