HMS Trafalgar (1887); Warship; Turret ship
Scale: 1:48. Design half block model of the port side of the turret ship HMS Trafalgar (1887), made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted pink-brown below the waterline, black above, the belt amour indicated in green-grey, and the belt armour waterline indicated by an off-white narrow line. Hull fittings include a reinforced ram bow, and rudder. Other details include wide diameter gun turrets fore and aft, painted black; superstructure amidships accommodating bridge and single funnel painted ochre. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame with bevelled edge (right-hand edge missing). On plaque attached to top left-hand corner of backboard ‘319. Trafalgar - battleship - 1887. Built at Portsmouth. Sold in 1911. Armament: - 4 13.5-in. (67 ton), 6 6-in. Q.F. Dimensions: - Length 345ft. Beam 73ft. Displacement 11940 tons. Speed 16 1/2 knots’.
