HMS Blake (1889); Warship; Cruiser; First class cruiser
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the first class cruiser HMS Blake (1889), made entirely in wood and painted pink-brown below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. Hull details include a reinforced ram bow; two rows of portholes, the upper one running along the entire length; two gun placements fore and aft of amidships; starboard bilge keel; rudder; and starboard propeller shaft casing and mounting. Other features and fittings include turtle foredeck; two guns mounted fore and aft; two stump funnels painted green-grey with ochre tops, and stump foremast and mainmast. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame. On plaque attached to top right-hand side of backboard ‘Blake’.
