Peridot (1890); Cargo vessel

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the cargo ship Peridot (1890), made bread and butter construction entirely in wood, painted and polished. The hull is polished wood below the waterline and black above. Hull details include a single strake in polished wood; bulwarks at bow and stern; and a propeller cavity. Other features and fittings include a foredeck; a stump foremast and mainmast; and a poop deck accommodating a superstructure and single funnel painted black. The model is displayed on a rectangular mahogany backboard with bevelled edges. On wooden plaque attached to bottom centre of backboard ‘SS “Peridot" built by John Fullerton & Co Merksworth building yard Paisley 1889.
