Lady Torfrida (1890); Recreation vessel; Yacht
A contemporary full hull model of the 'Lady Torfrida' (1890), a three-masted topsail schooner yacht, built at a scale of 1:48. The model, which is decked, equipped and rigged, was re-rigged in 1976 by Jim Lees. There are two identical plaques at each end of the base. They read: ‘Auxiliary Steam Yacht/ “Lady Torfrida”/ Length 157’-0”/ Breadth 27-0/ Depth Moulded 17-0/ Tonnage Y.M. 539 Tons/ Indicated Horse-Power 700/ Speed in Knots 11 ¾’.
This yacht was one of three of the same name that Sir William Pearce owned.
