HMS Talbot (1895); Warship; Cruiser; Second class cruiser

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the second class cruiser HMS Talbot (1895), made entirely in wood and painted pink-brown below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above, black above the waterline and a number of fittings indicated on the hull in red outline. Other hull features include a ram bow; rows of portholes; what appears to be the armoured belt running the entire length of the hull above the waterline; long raised bulwark section with seven broadly rectangular sections cut out of it; and a balanced rudder. Other features and fittings include a long fore deck with a gun mounted, painted black; stump foremast and mainmast; nine unidentified grey superstructure fittings; and single stump funnel (currently missing). The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame. On plaque attached to top left-hand side of backboard ‘Talbot’.
