Speedy (1895); Recreation vessel; Yacht; Schooner yacht
Scale: 1:24. An attractive shipbuilder’s model retaining its original baseboard with two pillar supports and information plaques. It is a model of some quality with its three boats hanging from silver-plated davits, and hand-painted panelling and glazing effect on the deckhouse.
‘Speedy’ (1895) was designed by the renowned yacht designer, Dixon Kemp, shortly before his death in 1899, and we can appreciate from the model the yacht’s fine racing lines with her swept back slender funnel and masts. ‘Speedy’ was built by Ramage & Ferguson for Baron Baserto. She had a 50 horsepower triple-expansion engine, driving a single screw.
