Kenwood (1910); Cargo vessel
Scale: 1:48. The model depicts a short-voyage general-cargo vessel. It has not been possible to find a suitable ship bearing the name ‘Kenwood’ and, for this reason, the date is not certain. It is possible that the ship represented by the model was renamed, or sold to a foreign buyer, before registration. At this scale the model represents a vessel 260 feet in length, 35 feet in beam, and with a displacement of 1342 tons.
The model has all the features though of depicting an actual ship like an ivorine information plaque and the inscription ‘Kenwood London’ painted on the stern. Four motorized derricks serve two cargo hatches forward and another two derricks serve an aft hatch. The model is nicely presented with its own bespoke case and display table.
