Miss Betty (1924); Recreation vessel; Motor boat; Racing hydroplane

Scale: 1:8. A full hull model of the racing hydroplane Miss Betty 1924 made entirely in wood with metal fittings and partly painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted a simulated copper finish below the waterline with a narrow white stripe above and pale blue above the waterline. The bottom edges of the hydroplanes have narrow white stripes and are unpainted below, Fittings include a steering wheel, rudder, four-bladed propeller and a triangular club racing pennant flying from the flagstaff on the stern. The model is mounted on three slender metal supports and displayed on a rectangular wooden baseboard that forms the floor of a glazed display case. The hull is complete with its racing insignia. On port hull ‘ZK2’. On starboard hull ‘Z2’. On plaque attached to baseboard ‘Miss Betty Z. 2.(INTERNATIONAL 1 1/2 LITRE CLASS HYDROPLANE) DESIGNED BY C.V. MACKROW M.I.N.A BUILT BY CAMPER & NICHOLSONS LTD, GOSPORT, ENGINE, ASTON-MARTIN WON FIRST RACE FOR HRH DUKE OF YORKS INTERNATIONAL GOLD TROPHY AT TORQUAY 1924 HOLDERS OF THE 1 1/2 LITRE CLASS WORLDS RECORD AND MANY NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TROPHIES THE MODEL WAS PRESENTED TO C.V.
