Shirvan (1925); Cargo vessel; Petroleum tanker
Scale: not calculated. The plaque in the case with the model states that it depicts both ‘Shirvan’ (1925) and ‘Shirak’ (1926) though the model itself sports only the former tanker’s name on its bows and stern. Built by Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth & Co. Ltd., Newcastle upon Tyne, for the Baltic Trading Co. Ltd., London, in 1925, they were both torpedoed and lost during the Second World War. It is one of several models of tankers built between the Wars in the NMM collection.
