Emily II

Scale: Unknown. A half block model of the starboard side of the international 8 metre racing yacht Emily II (fl 1929), made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted black below the waterline, with a blue stripe above, and white above the waterline. There is a single narrow strake just below the gunwale, painted gold. The hull has a pronounced keel with the rudder integrated into its lines. The stump foremast, stump mainmast and tiller arm are currently missing. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard. On plaque attached to backboard ‘International 8 metre racing yacht Emily II Designed by MORGAN GILES M.I.N.A. Messrs MORGAN GILES LIMITED AT TEIGNMOUTH DEVON FOR SIR ERNEST RONEY AND ERNEST J. RONEY. ESQ 1929 LOA 44.00 LWL 30.00 BEAM 8.35 DRAFT 6.50 SAIL AREA 862 50FT (IV RU)’.
