Wilna (1934); Recreation vessel; Yacht

Scale: 1:48. A full hull model of the motor yacht Wilna (1934) made entirely in wood with plated-metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted dark brown below the waterline, with a broad blue stripe and an off-white stripe above the waterline. Hull fittings include anchors stowed at the port and starboard bows; intermittent rows of portholes on two decks, the lower ports being slightly larger; four large rectangular windows amidships; two pairs of hull-mounted davits on the port and starboard sides; companionway rigged to the starboard side; two three-bladed propellers; and rudder. The foredeck has rails either side, a flagstaff at the bow and a foremast. The superstructure accommodates an enclosed bridge forward with a single funnel abaft it, painted yellow ochre with a blue top, and covered companion way aft. Other fittings include a pair of boats stowed on davits. The model is mounted on a pair of turned silver-plated pillar supports with two plated stabilizer supports and displayed on a rectangular wooden baseboard. Inscribed on the port and starboard bows is ‘Wilna’ and on a plaque attached to the baseboard ‘TSMY "Wilna" 143 tons Designed by Norman Hart 15 King Street London SW1 Built by Cochrane & Sons Ltd Ouse Shipbuilding Yard Selby 1934’.
