Fighting vessel; Submarine; Type 26 submarine

Scale: 1:100. A full hull model of a German Type 26 submarine (circa 1945) made entirely in wood with metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. The main part of the hull is painted dark grey and the upper portion, together with the fin, is painted light grey. Fittings include four pairs of ventilators at the bow, forward hydroplanes in the extended position, elongated and squat fin with four aerials and sonar apparatus atop, propeller and single rudder. The model is mounted on a pair of turned white metal pillar supports and displayed on a rectangular wooden baseboard with rounded corners and bevelled edges. On plaque ‘Unterseeboot TYP XXVI 1: 100’.
