Full-hull model
Scale: 1:24. A builder's model of a double ended, ramped ferry designed to carry vehicles and passengers for use on rivers and coastal waters. The model is decked and fully equipped with a number of fittings finished in silver plate. It is painted an aluminium colour overall, to which a number of wooden fittings, in particular seating and a large fender around the hull, have been applied. The steering position is located amidships on one side of the hull next to the equipment used for raising and lowering the ramps.
The model is mounted on two turned brass pillars on a wooden baseboard within a glazed case. It has a plaques inscribed: "Aluminium alloy car ferry 45'-0" O.A. X 16'-0" MLD X 3'-9" Hotchkiss cone propulsion designed by Fairmile Construction Co Ltd (Mr S.N. Graham M.B.E. M.I.N.A.) Cobham Surrey built at Hayling Island Hants" and "Model by A.W. Penny Exhibition model maker Gibbs Boatyard, Teddington, Middx.".
