Half block model; Plating model

Scale: Unknown. A shipbuilders plating model of crane scows numbered 816 and 829 (1955). The model is made entirely in wood and varnished in its natural state. The model is carved from a solid piece of wood. The hull has been marked with extensive constructional details which include the size and disposition of frames, plates, decks and waterlines, bollards, and anchor handling equipment. It is also fitted with a fixed skeg at the stern with rounded and slightly upturned round ends at the bow and stern. The model is mounted on a plain soft-wood backboard with a moulded edge. The backboard is inscribed: 'Job No C/216/W, Job No C2200/W Crane scows ship No 816 & 829. Fairmile Construction Co Ltd, Main dimensions Length MLD 110'-0" Breadth MLD 33'-0" Depth 8'-0"'.
