Privateer (1955); Fishing vessel; Bugeye

Scale: 1:12. A full hull model of the two-masted bugeye on a skipjack hull Privateer (1955) made entirely in wood with metal, organic material and synthetic fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted plum-grey below the waterline and off-white above with a single unpainted strake running its entire length. Hull fittings include decorated and decoratively painted trail boards, eleven scuppers on each of the port and starboard sides, a large plum-grey rudder and single propeller. The depicted vessel is two-masted and fully rigged each with a large triangular sail. There is also a large jib sail set on the bowsprit. All three sails are made from white material and appear to have stretchers, while the masts are unpainted and are fitted with mast hoops. Other features include port and starboard navigation lights, low white-painted superstructure, life ring, wheel and ship’s boat stowed at the stern. The model is equipped with a detachable keel. The model is mounted on a pair of basic wooden crutches.
