City of St Albans (1960); Cargo vessel
Scale: 1:48. A half block plating model of the starboard side of the general cargo ship City of St Albans (1960) made entirely in wood, marked for plating in black penwork and varnished a golden brown finish. The hull is made from several pieces of timber inscribed with numerous vertical and horizontal lines, numerals and lettering. It has an unusual and distinctive stepped three-tier forecastle and a conventional aft deck. A rectangular section of the hull has been altered and plugged with a similarly shaped piece of wood below the waterline, forward of amidships. The model is fixed to a rectangular wooden storage backboard.
