Service vessel; Minesweeper
Scale: Unknown. A model depicting stern and bow of a minesweeper with minesweeping equipment rigged and in use. The model comprises a box-like structure, open at the top and starboard side from which the model is viewed. The bottom of the ‘box’ depicts the sea bed and a waterline is depicted by a clear sheet of Perspex into which the bow and stern sections of the minesweeper are set. The bow section is attached to the rearmost side of the box while the stern section is attached to the foremost side. Inset into the box are four lozenge-shaped ‘windows’ below the waterline, one each in the foremost and rearmost sides and two in the port side of the box. Suspended between the two sections, part of which is set on the sea bed are various items of minesweeping equipment. Fittings on the stern section include a drum winch, two propellers and two rudders. Fittings on the bow section include guard rails, superstructure placed well forward with open bridge atop and communications mast. Both sections are painted light grey. On label ‘Double sweep W. Mark 3 Mod 2 500yds Acoustic sweeps Starboard - A.D.Mark 3 Mod 1 Port - A.H.Mark 4 Mod 2’.
