Cargo vessel; Thames barge
Scale: Unknown. A model of the port side of a Thames barge made entirely in wood and painted and varnished. The hull has been scored to resemble planking and the rubbing strake, gunwale, stem post and rudder post are painted black. Fittings include a long cargo hatch amidships and a short cargo hatch forward, skylight, companionway cover and rudder. The deck is scored to resemble planking. The model is mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard with eight commemorative barge racing paper labels applied to the left hand side of the backboard. The backboard is inscribed in gold paint "J. R. Piper. Builder. Greenwich".
