Service vessel; Passenger vessel; Cutter

Scale: Unknown. A contemporary full hull model of a ship’s rowing cutter, built plank on frame in clinker fashion. The hull is finished in varnished natural wood and is fitted with eight thwarts, stern and side benches, and slatted wooden floors which are secured by several wooden pegs. On the keelson towards the bow and stern are fitted to large eyes, which would suggest that it was intended to be hoisted and rigged to davits. However, the absence of mast positions and rowing oarlocks on the gunwale, and the lack of a rudder and fittings, suggests that this model was made purely to illustrate the hull shape.
