Scale: 1:64. Seven full hull models depicting different Royal Naval vessels and ships’ boats (circa 1890), all made entirely in wood with metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. Two of the depicted vessels are double-ended while the others have transom sterns. All seven models have smooth carvel-built hulls, painted white, with white-painted inner hulls and fittings, with mahogany details such as top strakes, thwarts, decks, stern seats and backboards. Fittings applicable to all or some of the models include propellers and engines with boilers and funnels, two of which are shown in their collapsed position. The models are displayed in a glazed table-top case with two models on turned brass pillar supports and the others mounted on crossed oars. On eight individual plaques applied to the red velvet-lined floor of the case ‘2nd Class torpedo boat’, ‘25ft whale gig.’, ‘38ft troop boat.’, ‘14ft dinghy.’, ‘30ft st.cutter.’, ‘30ft gig’, ‘45ft steam pinnace.’, and ‘Models of boats scale 3/16in to 1 ft’.
