Equipment model; Anchor model

Scale: Unknown. A model of W J Brown's patent anchor, made entirely in iron and oxidised a dark brown colour. The shank is ovoid in shape and tapers toward the top where it bulges out to accommodate a D-ring shackle that swivels on a flat headed rivet. Along one side of the shank is inscribed: '23 2 94. W. Brown 3858'. The bottom of the shank also bulges out where the iron stock passes through it. The stock has two caps at either end that fit over the stock. The two stock arms are inscribed: 'W. Brown'. The crown is an extension of the shank and hangs below the anchor as a round termination to it and through which passes a short cylindrical bar. This bar rolls along the convex bottoms of the arms as they pivot on the shank. The pivoting arc is about 90 degrees. The convex bottoms of the arms turn downward at either end to prevent the arms from pivoting through too wide an arc. The stock also passes through the arms, above which they sweep diagonally upward terminating in a pair of vertical pointed flukes.
