Inglefield's anchor
Scale: Unknown. Model of an Inglefield's patent anchor (1851). Model is made entirely of brass with a lacquered finish overall. The crown, arms and flukes, which are curved acutely upwards, are a single V-shaped casting with a rounded crown through which passes a long tapered brass rod which connects it to the pivoting shank. The shank is oval in section and tapers towards the top eventually becoming flat in section where the brass stock is located. The stock has a rounded shoulder halfway along with a small hole drilled through, through which a metal fid would pass (missing) to hold it in position when in use. The fid could be removed allowing the stock to be withdrawn for close stowage aboard ship. At the very top of the shank is a round shackle, held on with a brass bolt and fidded wedge.
