Scale: Unknown. A model of a portable anchor (1857) made entirely from iron and painted a uniform black. The body and arms are made up from a series of flat sections, all of which are held together by three large nut and bolts on the shank and six smaller ones under the palms. The flat sections of both the shank and arms are held apart by a number of spacers at the junction of the bolts. The top of the shank has been drilled to take a circular-shaped stock, above which is fitted a pivoting D-shackle for attaching the anchor chain. The crescent-shaped arms would presumably swivel either side of the stock and are complete with a pair of flat palms which themselves are bolted on either side. On the underside of the arms towards the palms are a pair of lugs for additional grip on the seabed. There is a paper label on which is handwritten in black ink: '.... Chain(?) from Mr Edgar(?) Boom Admiralty, 30 April 1857'.
