Equipment model; Anchor model

Scale: Unknown. A model of an Eynon's gripwell patent anchor, sanctioned in 1901, and made entirely in steel that has either been patinated or painted a dark grey colour. The shank is rectangular in section with rounded corners. The top part of the shank is rounded and there are notches cut into either side to accommodate a D-ring shackle that swivels on a round-headed bolt held in place by a spring clip. On one wide side of the shank is inscribed: 'Eynons patent "gripwell"'. The shank pivots on the crown in an arc of about ninety degrees. The bottom of the crown is convex in shape and in the centre is a rectangular aperture through which the bottom of the shank can be seen. On either side of the aperture there are two rectangular plates, or feet, also convex in shape. The arms are rounded underneath and on the ends are two round metal spheres, one of which is held in place by a spring clip. The arms terminate in a pair of prominent flukes with pointed tips.
