Equipment model; Anchor model

Scale: 1:12. Model of a mooring anchor proposed by Mr Samuel Hemmans, Master Attendant at Chatham Dockyard, in 1809. The model is made of iron with an iron shank and ring bolt attached to the top of it, secured with an iron bolt. The single, large fluke is paisley shaped in profile. The stock is made of wood in two longitudinal sections and stained dark brown. Six square iron bands are depicted using strips of black paper, painted black. The stock is inscribed "28" and "A model of a mooring block of cast iron. Height at... and a half scale 1 inch to a foot proposed use substitute for mooring anchors...By Samuel Hemmans Master attendant Chatham."
