Equipment model; Anchor model
Scale: Unknown. A model of a three-armed grapnel in the shape of an anchor, made entirely in brass. The surface of the metal is oxidised to a uniform dull patina. The shank is round in section and bulges slightly at the top to accommodate a hole through which passes a large ring. The ring has a gap or break in it. The three arms are equal in size and shape and, viewed from below, form an equilateral triangle. They terminate in short flukes that have twin points to them and concave edges. The bottom of the crown is flattened off.
