Equipment model; Anchor model
Scale: Unknown. Model of Martin's patent self canting close stowing anchor (1869). Model has been cast entirely from brass with a nickel-plated finish and illustrates the working parts of this type of anchor with swivelling flukes and shackles. At the crown, the flukes pass through as a single piece on the arms and are held in position by a large steel pin. At the very top of the crown, a brass D-shackle is fitted, again secured with a brass pin. The shank is rectangular in section and tapers towards the top passing through the flat, shallow V-shaped stock which is held in place with a fidded steel wedge. Above this is fitted a brass bow shackle, held in place by a fidded brass pin.
