Martin's anchor
Scale:Unknown. Model of Martin's Patent self canting anchor (1869). Model has been cast entirely from brass and illustrates the working parts of this type of anchor with swivelling flukes and shackles. At the crown, the flukes pass through as a single piece on the arms and are held in position by a large steel pin. At the very top of the crown, a brass D-shackle is fitted, again secured with a steel pin and fid wedge. The shank is rectangular in section and tapers towards the top passing through the flat, shallow V-shaped stock which is held in place with a fidded steel wedge. Above this is fitted a brass bow shackle, held in place by a steel bolt.
