Submarine cable

Submarine cable stripped back in layers. The core consists of seven copper wires surrounded by gutta percha and then a layer of hemp. The outer sheathing consists of twelve iron wires covered by tarred hemp. There are three metal bands - two on either end of the outer covering section and the other on the end of the thicker hemp section. At the end of the thinner hemp section metal wire has been wound round.
